Microsoft will no longer provide security updates for Windows 7 as of January 14, 2020, which is only a year away.

This means no more updates or fixes, including security fixes after that date, Microsoft introduced Windows 7 in  2009. With some enterprise customers not deploying Windows 7 until it was well into its lifecycle, in some cases, just months before Windows 10 debuted in July, 2015!

As of January 14, 2020 — the date when Microsoft is slated to stop providing support for Windows 7 — Microsoft will also no longer support Office 365 ProPlus on Windows 7.

But it doesn’t just stop here! – Microsoft has more products for which support is also ending on January 14, 2020: Exchange Server 2010, Windows Server 2008/R2.

The clock is ticking – it’s time to create a migration strategy for Windows 7! It might seem like a long way off but trust me – if you’ve more than a handful of Windows 7 systems there might be more to consider.
